Fishburn Primary School
Small But Mighty!

Welcome

Head Teacher’s Message

Dear Mums, Dads, Carers, Friends of school and Children,

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and read about our school and the education we have to offer.

From the pupils, staff and governors, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you. We hope that you find this website a useful source of information and insight about our friendly and busy school.

At Fishburn Primary, we are proud of the sense of belonging and security that children feel when they are part of our community. We believe that children reach their potential to grow socially, morally and educationally in our warm lively and caring environment with an enriched curriculum that gives endless opportunities for all.

Our curriculum is based on the principle that our children only get one chance at a primary education and as a result our main curriculum drivers centre around the idea that we want every child in our care to leave Fishburn as:

  • Resilient,
  • Independent and
  • Confident individuals

with the knowledge they need to succeed and the aspiration that they can achieve anything they put their minds to. We aim for all of our children to feel part of our ‘Fishburn Family’ and to grow and develop a sense of responsibility whilst also achieving their own personal goals.

We enjoy a spacious site in our semi – rural location where children are able to explore and learn. We have our very own adventure forest, outdoor classroom, fire pit, bird hide and allotment which we make use of all year round. We also have light and spacious classrooms and first-class play facilities, a large playing field, which the children can use at break times and lunch times (weather dependent), two playgrounds and a football pitch!

Our school is the exciting and wonderful place it is due to our children who are our best and most effective ambassadors. Our dedicated team of teaching and non teaching staff are fully committed to providing the very best education possible for our children. We pride ourselves on being fully inclusive and have the ability to cater for any one who wishes to be part of our ‘Fishburn Family’. To that end, we have a dedicated sensory room and several quiet and calm spaces for children who may need to make use of this.

As a school community we firmly believe that everyone can achieve their best and are committed to our ‘you can do it!’ ethos. We recognise that this is only possible when a close home school relationship is established. Therefore, we view education as a partnership between home and school. By working together, we aim to provide the learning opportunities and experiences which develop children’s talents. We provide an atmosphere which fosters tolerance and expects high standards of perseverance and determination. We aim to keep you well informed about activities and events in school so that you can share these experiences with your children. It is important that children feel that their positive learning experience in school is reinforced at home and we aim to work in close partnership with you to achieve this.

We have an open door policy and all staff members pride themselves on being welcoming and approachable so please do not hesitate to ask questions. I would also encourage you to explore this site and to get in touch with us so that you can see what Fishburn has to offer your child.

I look forward to working in partnership with you and your family.

Miss Gemma Ferguson (Head Teacher)
