Intent

·        We want all children to have access to a full and inclusive curriculum that is tailored to their needs and interests. We want all children to make a good level of development.

·        We focus heavily on the prime areas in nursery provision. We spend time developing speaking and vocabulary skills and promote a love of reading. We build on what the children already know and plan an ambitious curriculum for all.

·        We provide opportunities to make the curriculum real and offer rich experiences, while enabling children to have an awareness of different cultures and cultural capital.

Implementation

·        We have a detailed curriculum map which outlines key learning in all areas of the curriculum for our pupils. All staff within the Early Years are aware of coverage within the curriculum and have the knowledge to facilitate learning and deepen children's knowledge.

·        Quality-first teaching promotes modelling and questioning. We promote this through the use of stimulating open-ended resources, stories to capture and engage, promoting new vocabulary and well as providing real life experiences and curriculum enrichments as possible.

·        We develop children's early literacy and maths skills building on their prior knowledge.

·        We deliver daily Phonics sessions following Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised preparing all children to become fluent readers.

Impact

·        At Fishburn Primary we believe that all children will show a good level of development within all areas of learning by the end of Reception, particularly within the prime areas, English and Maths.

·        Our children will be curious, resilient and take pride in their personal achievements.
